Google will update algorithms to combat SEO and commercial placement of links on sites

08.03.24 Google will continue to crack down on AI-generated content and link building. Google has announced a search algorithm update aimed at “providing users with more useful content and reducing the amount of low-quality and spam content in search results.”The update includes clarification of the rating system to better determine whether web pages are truly useful to users or designed to satisfy search algorithms. Google will also consider domains “that are purchased and repurposed to improve the ranking of low-quality content in search results” as spam.Google has discovered that some web pages are search engine optimized (SEO) and designed solely to look good to the algorithms (what a surprise) without providing any real value to users. This includes long and wordy texts without meaningful meaning, as well as content optimized for specific search queries.Google’s search algorithm update aims to reduce the amount of low-quality content by 40%, directing more traffic to useful, high-quality sites. In addition, Google will classify more content as spam, including pages with little or no value, as well assites that host low-quality affiliate content in order to capitalize on reputation.
