Bhopal: Gwalior police have busted an illegal arms ring which employed next-level marketing strategies to peddle their deadly wares. An alleged arms smuggler, Satendra Rawat, a resident of Datia was arrested. IPS officer Shiyaz K M who led the operation said that the authorities came across a video which showed a person demonstrating the firepower of an illegal automatic pistol.The video also showed the man firing from the pistol.Officials say this innovative marketing tactic not only showcased the potency of the weapons but also lured potential buyers seeking high-caliber firearms. Cops received a tip-off about Rawat’s illegal activities, following which the police launched a covert investigation, led by officers from the crime branch and Dabra police station.As police went deeper into the ring of arms trafficking, they found a web of criminal networks spanning across state borders. Rawat, leveraging his connections with other criminals, had established a lucrative business model, selling each pistol for a price of Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.Police seized a cache of illegal weapons from Rawat’s possession, including an automatic pistol similar to the one featured in the viral marketing video. Rawat was linked to one Ramveer Gurjar, who had been earlier apprehended with a similar arsenal.
