- 0:03 | my top 10 pieces of advice
- 0:05 | for affiliate marketing beginners.
- 0:07 | Now, what should make this
video extremely helpful - 0:09 | is that these 10 pieces of
advice are going to be things - 0:12 | that I learned over the years
of doing affiliate marketing. - 0:14 | They are personal things
- 0:15 | that I would very much recommend you do,
- 0:17 | things that I’ve found out that
have worked extremely well. - 0:20 | These are not going to be
the things that you find - 0:21 | on the common lists online
of generic best practices - 0:25 | for affiliate marketing.
- 0:26 | So this video should really
turn into one of those videos - 0:28 | that you just watch one time through.
- 0:30 | It takes you a couple minutes,
- 0:31 | and then it gets your entire
affiliate marketing business - 0:34 | off to a very good start.
- 0:36 | So with that being said,
let’s get into the first - 0:38 | piece of advice for affiliate
marketing beginners. - 0:40 | Now, what this is, is to
never promote products - 0:43 | that you don’t believe in.
- 0:45 | This should be treated as the golden rule
- 0:47 | for affiliate marketing.
- 0:48 | So many new affiliate marketers come in
- 0:50 | and they just pick out the
niche that they want to go into - 0:52 | and look for what companies
have affiliate programs - 0:55 | that are offering the highest commissions?
- 0:57 | Well, I can tell you from experience,
- 0:58 | most of the times those products
are fly-by-night companies - 1:02 | that have very low quality products,
- 1:04 | and they’re just trying to make money
- 1:05 | by luring in affiliates like the beginners
- 1:08 | that are starting out.
- 1:09 | Although you can make money doing that
- 1:11 | because you’re going to
make high commissions, - 1:13 | no one is ever gonna come
back to your content, - 1:15 | you’re never going to build an audience
- 1:16 | because when all of those
people purchase those products - 1:19 | and they receive it and
they actually use it, - 1:21 | they’re going to find
out that that product - 1:22 | is very low quality and therefore
it ruins your reputation - 1:26 | as an affiliate marketer.
- 1:27 | I can tell you from so much experience
- 1:29 | that when you find those
best quality products, - 1:31 | a lot of the times they have
very good commissions as well. - 1:33 | So you can make just as much
money by promoting a product - 1:36 | that’s actually good.
- 1:38 | That brings us into the
second piece of advice - 1:40 | that I would give you and that is to find
- 1:41 | good commission products.
- 1:43 | Now, I’m not saying high
commission products, - 1:45 | I’m saying good commission products.
- 1:46 | Now, allow me to explain this.
- 1:47 | So when you are getting started
out in affiliate marketing, - 1:50 | you can join all different
kinds of affiliate programs - 1:52 | for all different kinds of products.
- 1:54 | The first one that I would
recommend almost everyone join - 1:57 | is Amazon’s affiliate program.
- 1:58 | The reason for this is although they offer
- 2:00 | a low commission rate, they
allow you to be an affiliate - 2:03 | for every product that’s on Amazon,
- 2:05 | and Amazon is a very trusted company.
- 2:07 | Now, with that being said,
I would not consider Amazon - 2:10 | a good commission product.
- 2:11 | They’re going to give
you a couple percent, - 2:12 | but that’s about it.
- 2:14 | So as you keep moving along
in affiliate marketing - 2:16 | and you get a little bit more advanced,
- 2:18 | then I would seek out individual companies
- 2:20 | that offer the best quality
product in the niche - 2:23 | and they have really
good commission rates. - 2:24 | Doing this one thing of
seeking out those individual - 2:27 | companies and joining
those affiliate programs - 2:29 | is going to make you a lot more
money in affiliate marketing - 2:32 | compared to joining something like Amazon.
- 2:35 | All right, the third piece
of advice for beginners - 2:37 | in affiliate marketing is something that
- 2:38 | not many people know that you can do,
- 2:40 | and that is to ask for discount codes.
- 2:42 | When you partner with individual companies
- 2:44 | like we were just talking about,
you can actually email them - 2:47 | and talk to your affiliate manager
- 2:48 | and ask them for a discount
code that you can offer - 2:51 | the people that are reading or watching
- 2:53 | your affiliate content.
- 2:54 | A lot of the times
they’re willing to create - 2:56 | a custom discount code just for you,
- 2:58 | and then that’s something
that you can offer to people - 3:00 | that are reading or watching your content.
- 3:02 | Now, sometimes it’s just
a straight discount code - 3:04 | that they just give you totally for free.
- 3:06 | Other times, they will give you the option
- 3:08 | to take a percentage out
of your own commission - 3:10 | to create that discount code
so that it’s not costing - 3:13 | the company anything extra,
- 3:15 | but then you as an affiliate
can offer something special - 3:17 | to the people that are reading
or viewing your content. - 3:20 | So keep that in mind.
- 3:21 | It just makes your affiliate
content way more valuable - 3:23 | for people to read or watch,
- 3:24 | and gives people more of an incentive
- 3:26 | to use your affiliate link.
- 3:28 | All right, the fourth piece
of advice I would give you - 3:30 | is to make sure that your
content is fluff-free. - 3:32 | When you are creating your blog articles
- 3:34 | or your videos for affiliate marketing,
- 3:36 | take out all of the BS,
take out all of the things - 3:39 | that people really don’t need,
- 3:40 | all of the filler information,
- 3:42 | and think about if you were
someone who was reading - 3:44 | or viewing that content,
what would you want to know? - 3:47 | Whatever those specific things are
- 3:49 | that you would want to know,
- 3:50 | that’s what you want to
put into your content. - 3:52 | By keeping it lean like
this, you’re just continuing - 3:54 | to deliver value all the
way through your content. - 3:57 | People will really appreciate that.
- 3:58 | Moving on to the fifth piece of advice,
- 4:00 | that is to review products in your niche.
- 4:03 | If you were looking for
the easiest type of content - 4:05 | to create to get affiliate commissions,
- 4:07 | that would be by doing product reviews.
- 4:09 | There is so much more that
I could say about this one - 4:11 | but I want to keep this video going along.
- 4:13 | Just know that that is a type of content
- 4:15 | that works extremely well
for affiliate marketing. - 4:17 | The sixth piece of advice
if you’re just starting out - 4:20 | in affiliate marketing is
to remember to have a CTA. - 4:23 | CTA stands for call to action.
- 4:25 | For every piece of affiliate
content that you make, - 4:28 | you wanna make sure that you’re
not forgetting to put in, - 4:30 | what is the next step for
that reader or viewer, - 4:32 | whether that’s a link to that product
- 4:34 | with your affiliate link,
or the next piece of content - 4:36 | that they should read or watch
- 4:38 | that’s going to help them even more.
- 4:39 | Just make sure that you
are laying out for them, - 4:42 | where’s the next place
that they should go. - 4:44 | Just a quick note, if

is is that over the years - 4:56 | I’ve learned that the
best affiliate programs - 4:59 | are not on the affiliate networks.
- 5:01 | What has become such a true
statement over the years - 5:03 | is that the best affiliate programs,
- 5:05 | the best quality products,
and the best commission rates - 5:08 | are on individual websites.
- 5:10 | They’re basically the individual companies
- 5:12 | affiliate program, and they’re not listed
- 5:14 | on the big network lists.
- 5:15 | So once you’ve decided on your
niche for affiliate marketing - 5:18 | and you’re getting ready to
pick your affiliate programs - 5:20 | that you want to join,
make sure that you go - 5:22 | to individual websites and
look up their programs. - 5:25 | Don’t limit yourself to
just the marketplace lists. - 5:28 | All right, and the eighth
piece of advice is something - 5:29 | that I don’t think many new
affiliate marketers know, - 5:32 | and that is that you can
negotiate your commission rate. - 5:34 | This is particularly true when you partner
- 5:36 | with individual companies and essentially
- 5:39 | as a rule of thumb, generally speaking,
- 5:41 | the more sales that you
get for that company, - 5:43 | the higher your commission rate should be.
- 5:45 | This is something that a lot
of companies don’t really want - 5:48 | to advertise because they’d rather pay you
- 5:50 | just the base commission
no matter how many sales - 5:52 | you bring them.
- 5:53 | However, as you start
to generate more sales - 5:55 | for an individual company,
don’t be afraid to email - 5:58 | your affiliate manager and
just ask if there’s room - 6:00 | to increase your affiliate commission.
- 6:02 | Now, I’m not talking
about a ton of money here, - 6:04 | but it’s more of just an incentive
- 6:06 | to keep you creating
content about that company. - 6:08 | And just like that, we’re onto
the ninth piece of advice, - 6:11 | and what that is, is to
think like your audience. - 6:13 | When you are thinking about
what kind of content to make - 6:16 | for your affiliate marketing business,
- 6:17 | think about if you were someone
on the other side of this, - 6:20 | what kind of content would
you want to be seeing - 6:22 | before you make your purchase?
- 6:24 | By thinking like this,
you’re going to come up with - 6:25 | so many better ideas for creating content
- 6:28 | for affiliate marketing that
you’re not going to find - 6:30 | on any tools that say,
here’s what to make. - 6:32 | And the last piece of advice,
- 6:34 | something that is extremely important,
- 6:35 | is when you’re getting started
in affiliate marketing, - 6:38 | pick the right content platform.
- 6:40 | You can do affiliate marketing
a number of different ways. - 6:43 | There’s all different platforms
- 6:44 | that you can post your content on.
- 6:45 | The two main ways would
be creating blog articles - 6:48 | and posting them on your own website,
- 6:50 | or creating affiliate marketing videos
- 6:52 | and posting them on YouTube.
- 6:53 | You can make money with both of these ways
- 6:55 | or all of the different ways
of doing affiliate marketing, - 6:57 | but I personally think
right now you will make - 6:59 | the most money with video.
- 7:01 | I’ve done multiple different ways
- 7:02 | of doing affiliate marketing,
- 7:04 | and just in the last
couple of years I’ve made - 7:05 | an absolute killing just from the videos.
- 7:08 | In the last couple of years
I’ve started three different - 7:10 | niche affiliate marketing
YouTube channels, - 7:12 | and they’ve now made over
a million dollars in profit - 7:14 | in just the last three years.
- 7:16 | With that being said, I
have to take my own advice - 7:18 | and I have to have a call
