  • 0:00 | so i started amazon kdp when i was
  • 0:02 | completely broke and over the past
  • 0:03 | couple years i was able to generate over
  • 0:05 | $1.7 million in royalties and become a
  • 0:08 | self-made millionaire at age 26 from
  • 0:10 | actually doing this business not from
  • 0:12 | selling courses or making youtube videos
  • 0:14 | i’ve learned a lot of things over the
  • 0:16 | years that i wish i knew when i first
  • 0:18 | got started with kdp so in this video
  • 0:20 | i’ll show you the biggest lessons that
  • 0:21 | i’ve learned along the way to hopefully
  • 0:23 | help you in your own kdp journey so the
  • 0:25 | very first thing you should understand
  • 0:26 | if you’re getting started with amazon
  • 0:28 | kdp right now is that there has never
  • 0:30 | been a better time to start this
  • 0:31 | business than now most people think it
  • 0:34 | is too late to start amazon kdp and all
  • 0:36 | of the success stories came from those
  • 0:37 | who started years ago and to that
  • 0:39 | honestly that is like the furthest thing
  • 0:41 | from the truth because i started amazon
  • 0:43 | kdp in 2016 and i built a multiple six
  • 0:46 | figures a year kdp business which i
  • 0:48 | eventually sold a couple years ago for
  • 0:51 | $820,000 but after that i started a new
  • 0:53 | kdp account this time i wanted to see
  • 0:55 | how passively i can grow this meaning
  • 0:57 | just outsourcing basically everything
  • 0:59 | and doing this part-time compared to my
  • 1:00 | first account it was you know me doing
  • 1:02 | it full-time for this account i spend
  • 1:04 | like 1 hour a week right and despite
  • 1:06 | that so far i made
  • 1:08 | $359,000 and you can see that it’s
  • 1:09 | growing pretty steadily right month over
  • 1:11 | month and if you count audiobooks and
  • 1:13 | other sources you know it’s over
  • 1:15 | $400,000 and just to clarify because you
  • 1:18 | see 172 books here a lot of people will
  • 1:20 | take the total income and then divide it
  • 1:22 | by how many books i have and they’re
  • 1:24 | like “oh you’re not making much per book
  • 1:26 | right?” but that’s not how you look at
  • 1:27 | this business a lot of these books are
  • 1:29 | translations or bundles which i was able
  • 1:31 | to create for free also low and medium
  • 1:33 | content books that i’m testing so that i
  • 1:35 | can learn from it and teach it better in
  • 1:37 | my youtube videos but anyways if i just
  • 1:39 | sort this with the top 10 books you know
  • 1:41 | i still made $211,000 probably
  • 1:44 | $250,000 you know with other sources
  • 1:46 | just from the 10 books so you don’t need
  • 1:48 | a ton of books to make money and i also
  • 1:50 | have students getting way better results
  • 1:52 | way faster so this student started this
  • 1:54 | kdp brand in november 2022 and within
  • 1:57 | two and a half years he made over $1
  • 1:59 | million in royalties and we have a ton
  • 2:01 | of other student success stories like
  • 2:03 | this so as you can see there’s still a
  • 2:05 | ton of opportunities in amazon kdp but
  • 2:08 | let’s be real here right the more you
  • 2:10 | wait the more you procrastinate the more
  • 2:12 | saturated it gets so the best time to
  • 2:14 | start was yesterday but the next best
  • 2:16 | time to start is today and the great
  • 2:18 | thing is with the rise of ai it’s never
  • 2:20 | been easier and cheaper and faster to
  • 2:23 | get started with this business but you
  • 2:25 | do have to know how to use ai to your
  • 2:27 | advantage right you cannot just rely on
  • 2:29 | ai 100% it’s a tool not a replacement
  • 2:32 | meaning you have to learn how to use the
  • 2:34 | tool not have it just do all the work
  • 2:35 | for you so before ai was introduced to
  • 2:37 | kdp you know creating just the book
  • 2:40 | outline literally took days if not weeks
  • 2:42 | right because everything was manual it
  • 2:44 | was crazy guys and so you know also
  • 2:46 | outsourcing talents was expensive and
  • 2:48 | timeconuming like you know we had to
  • 2:50 | hire ghostriters we had to hire cub
  • 2:52 | designers now you know ai is replacing a
  • 2:55 | lot of those we still do use it
  • 2:56 | depending on the book type but a lot of
  • 2:58 | books you can create just with ai now
  • 3:00 | which is pretty insane okay so it was a
  • 3:02 | lot harder to start kdp but with the
  • 3:04 | rise of ai you can use chat gpt to
  • 3:06 | create book outline description even
  • 3:08 | writing some content right midjourney
  • 3:10 | can generate ai illustrations even book
  • 3:12 | covers there are other ai uh image
  • 3:15 | generators that’s really good for book
  • 3:16 | covers as well there are softwares that
  • 3:18 | automatically manages amazon ads which
  • 3:20 | is new as well before you had to do
  • 3:22 | everything manually and there are a ton
  • 3:23 | of other ai tools for various tasks too
  • 3:26 | so the bottom line is a lot of things we
  • 3:27 | used to have to do is now being replaced
  • 3:30 | with ai but with that being said you
  • 3:32 | know this is one of the first things you
  • 3:33 | have to understand when you hear this is
  • 3:35 | that you cannot just rely solely on ai
  • 3:37 | because even though ai is absolutely
  • 3:39 | amazing if you try to write a whole book
  • 3:42 | just from ai without adding your own
  • 3:44 | input or tweaking the content nine times
  • 3:46 | out of 10 that book is going to suck and
  • 3:48 | producing bad book is not how you
  • 3:50 | succeed in this business so once again
  • 3:52 | ai is an amazing tool but it’s not a
  • 3:54 | replacement right it’s not going to
  • 3:55 | replace you it’s just going to help you
  • 3:57 | create better books faster so you still
  • 4:00 | have to tweak the content humanize it
  • 4:01 | improve it so this is an example of a ai
  • 4:04 | written book and on the surface it looks
  • 4:07 | decent right but if you scroll down to
  • 4:09 | the reviews it’s getting a lot of
  • 4:11 | negative reviews and comments regarding
  • 4:13 | how it’s using ai and it’s not working
  • 4:15 | right you can see here ai gone wrong ai
  • 4:18 | pictures don’t match the words
  • 4:19 | everything is ai generated illustrations
  • 4:21 | don’t match the story it just doesn’t
  • 4:23 | make sense so this is what i mean is you
  • 4:25 | can use ai for a lot of things but you
  • 4:26 | cannot just completely create the book
  • 4:28 | with ai but there are examples of ai
  • 4:31 | generated books that are doing really
  • 4:33 | well so on the other hand this book
  • 4:35 | right here inspiring stories for
  • 4:37 | brilliant boys you know the cover is
  • 4:39 | pretty ai i’m confident that they used
  • 4:41 | ai to create this book but once again
  • 4:43 | they probably tweaked the content
  • 4:44 | significantly right and for that reason
  • 4:46 | this book is doing really well it’s
  • 4:47 | generating hundreds of dollars every
  • 4:49 | single day and people are liking the
  • 4:51 | content so if you know how to use ai you
  • 4:53 | can create good books this is an example
  • 4:55 | of a bad ai created book uh in the
  • 4:57 | coloring book space if you look at the
  • 4:59 | images here a lot of things uh screams
  • 5:01 | ai like the hand is blending into the
  • 5:03 | cow right it makes no sense on the other
  • 5:05 | hand this is an example of using ai
  • 5:07 | correctly so it has amazing reviews it’s
  • 5:09 | making hundreds of dollars every single
  • 5:11 | day and these are the illustrations so
  • 5:12 | i’m confident that what they’ve done is
  • 5:14 | they used ai to initially generate the
  • 5:17 | pages and then they use photoshop or
  • 5:19 | some kind of image editing tool to fix
  • 5:21 | up any you know ai errors and this is
  • 5:23 | the final product it looks really nice
  • 5:25 | it looks really clean so another example
  • 5:26 | of how you don’t just you know copy
  • 5:28 | paste and rely on ai 100% you use ai to
  • 5:31 | speed up the process but then you tweak
  • 5:33 | it after to make sure it’s good the next
  • 5:34 | thing you have to keep in mind is you
  • 5:36 | got to validate the topic before
  • 5:38 | creating the book so most people think
  • 5:40 | of an idea and they don’t even check if
  • 5:42 | other people are interested in that idea
  • 5:44 | right they get excited about whatever
  • 5:45 | idea they have they create the book they
  • 5:48 | spend a lot of time and energy creating
  • 5:49 | the book and then they’re like “all
  • 5:51 | right i wrote this book how can i get
  • 5:53 | other people to want this?” and that is
  • 5:54 | the most backward approach ever so i had
  • 5:57 | this one student in my coaching program
  • 5:59 | that was doing exactly this he joined
  • 6:01 | kdp he didn’t validate the topic before
  • 6:03 | creating these books and he ended up
  • 6:05 | making about a hundred bucks in his
  • 6:07 | first six months of doing this but after
  • 6:09 | i showed him how to fix this and the
  • 6:11 | correct way of doing it he went on to
  • 6:12 | make over $5,000 in a single month to
  • 6:15 | hitting $10,000 in a month shortly after
  • 6:17 | to doing over $2,000 per day pretty
  • 6:20 | consistently and now he’s traveling the
  • 6:22 | world so the big question is how do you
  • 6:24 | do this how do you validate the topic
  • 6:26 | before you create the book it’s as
  • 6:28 | simple as asking are similar books on
  • 6:30 | this topic selling well if other books
  • 6:33 | are selling then that means people are
  • 6:35 | interested there’s demand so then that
  • 6:37 | tells you that you should go and create
  • 6:38 | the book right if no other book on the
  • 6:40 | topic is selling then it’s probably
  • 6:42 | because no one’s interested in it so
  • 6:44 | that means you should skip the idea so
  • 6:45 | this is the step-by-step process on
  • 6:47 | validating the topic number one you want
  • 6:49 | to search for your book topic on amazon
  • 6:50 | right if you’re doing ketogenic diet
  • 6:52 | just type in the topic ketogenic diet if
  • 6:54 | you’re doing animal calling books for
  • 6:55 | kids just type in animal calling books
  • 6:57 | for kids so just type in the topic check
  • 6:58 | that on amazon and you want to check the
  • 7:00 | bestsellers rank okay if the bestsellers
  • 7:02 | rank is below 80,000 that book is doing
  • 7:05 | an average of $500 per month so to get
  • 7:07 | the bestsellers rank number you can use
  • 7:10 | tools like bookbeam which is a paid tool
  • 7:12 | you don’t have to get that if you don’t
  • 7:13 | want to you can also use ds amazon
  • 7:15 | quickview which is a completely free
  • 7:17 | google chrome plugin so just search that
  • 7:19 | up on google download the plugin once
  • 7:21 | again it’s free so this is how you do it
  • 7:23 | you just type in the topic so in my case
  • 7:24 | if i want to check the topic of
  • 7:26 | decluttering i’m going to type in
  • 7:27 | decluttering on amazon right and on the
  • 7:29 | search results i’m just going to start
  • 7:31 | checking what’s the the ranking it has
  • 7:33 | this is way below 80,000 and for that
  • 7:35 | reason it’s making way more than 500
  • 7:37 | bucks a month but this is one book on
  • 7:39 | decluttering that is selling this is
  • 7:40 | another book that’s doing really well
  • 7:42 | there’s another book that’s doing really
  • 7:43 | well right all these books are below
  • 7:46 | 80,000 which tells me that decluttering
  • 7:48 | is very very profitable like almost all
  • 7:50 | the books on page one is selling well so
  • 7:53 | there’s obviously demand people
  • 7:54 | obviously want this book and for that
  • 7:56 | reason now i know that when i make a
  • 7:58 | book on decluttering then it’s going to
  • 8:00 | sell so now that the topic is validated
  • 8:02 | the next question i should be tackling
  • 8:04 | is how can i make a book that is better
  • 8:06 | than what’s on the market which is a
  • 8:08 | separate conversation so to recap if
  • 8:10 | there are multiple books under 80,000
  • 8:12 | bsr then that’s a good topic if there
  • 8:14 | are no books selling on it then skip it
  • 8:16 | so now that you understand how to find
  • 8:18 | profitable topics you’re going to start
  • 8:20 | finding a lot of good topics like it’s
  • 8:22 | not that hard finding profitable topics
  • 8:24 | so you’re going to have a bunch of ideas
  • 8:26 | of topics you can go into but that leads
  • 8:28 | me to another mistake that i made early
  • 8:30 | on and that is that i was all over the
  • 8:32 | place when i was publishing books right
  • 8:34 | i would go into one niche and then i’ll
  • 8:36 | publish another book and another niche
  • 8:37 | and another book in a completely
  • 8:39 | different topic and i was once again all
  • 8:41 | over i was basically doing what we call
  • 8:42 | the shotgun approach but instead what
  • 8:44 | you want to do is to go deep not wide
  • 8:47 | going wide is essentially shotgunning
  • 8:49 | everywhere going deep is picking a niche
  • 8:52 | and publishing as many books in it
  • 8:53 | because every single successful
  • 8:55 | publisher i know who’s making a lot of
  • 8:57 | money when i say a lot of money minimum
  • 8:59 | 10k per month and all the way up to 100k
  • 9:01 | per month or more and what they do is
  • 9:03 | they all focus on one to two niches
  • 9:05 | they’re not all over the place so don’t
  • 9:07 | jump between different niches like don’t
  • 9:09 | do one log book and then coloring book
  • 9:11 | and then try out a non-fiction book and
  • 9:13 | then a fiction book that’s being all
  • 9:15 | over the place right you want to pick
  • 9:16 | one niche that you like and you want to
  • 9:18 | publish multiple books to establish
  • 9:20 | authority you want to master one book
  • 9:22 | type before moving on so if you choose
  • 9:25 | to do calling book try to learn as much
  • 9:26 | as you can master the calling book niche
  • 9:29 | until you are so good that you’re bored
  • 9:32 | and plus you have your team you know
  • 9:34 | running the business for you that you
  • 9:35 | have the bandwidth to try out another
  • 9:37 | niche right if that’s the case go ahead
  • 9:39 | and do it you do whatever you want but
  • 9:40 | if you want to make as much money as
  • 9:42 | possible you should really be focusing
  • 9:44 | on one until you master it okay because
  • 9:46 | the more books you publish in a niche
  • 9:48 | the better you understand what works you
  • 9:51 | know what kind of topics sell how you
  • 9:53 | should position the book how you should
  • 9:54 | title the book you know what topics
  • 9:56 | people are responding to what problems
  • 9:58 | do the customers face that you can solve
  • 10:00 | in the book those audience insights
  • 10:03 | comes from being in the niche for a long
  • 10:05 | time and this is exactly what this
  • 10:07 | student did right that took him from
  • 10:09 | being a complete beginner in kdp to
  • 10:11 | joining my coaching program and hitting
  • 10:13 | over $6,000 in a month and shortly after
  • 10:16 | hitting over $58,000 in revenue and that
  • 10:19 | is him on the left so obviously these
  • 10:21 | aren’t typical results like just because
  • 10:22 | you join my coaching program or do this
  • 10:25 | that doesn’t guarantee that you’re going
  • 10:26 | to make six figures a year and travel
  • 10:28 | the world like these students these guys
  • 10:29 | worked very hard they showed up
  • 10:31 | consistently put in the work and for
  • 10:33 | that reason results followed the thing
  • 10:35 | is most people don’t get the results
  • 10:36 | because they don’t work as hard as them
  • 10:38 | but those who do gets pretty great
  • 10:39 | results obviously i cannot guarantee but
  • 10:41 | that’s what we see and by the way i’m
  • 10:43 | not trying to sell my coaching program
  • 10:44 | i’m only bringing up these examples
  • 10:46 | because people always ask for you know
  • 10:48 | actual results and student successes and
  • 10:50 | this and that plus i want to prove a
  • 10:52 | point that if you actually follow these
  • 10:53 | strategies i want to show you what’s
  • 10:55 | possible the next thing you want to
  • 10:56 | understand is that competition is a good
  • 10:58 | thing so a lot of people who are new to
  • 11:00 | business they think competition is bad
  • 11:02 | if somebody else is doing it they should
  • 11:04 | not do it you see this in youtube
  • 11:07 | comments all the time of people saying
  • 11:09 | “oh you know so many people are doing
  • 11:10 | this business already or so many people
  • 11:12 | are in this niche already and for that
  • 11:14 | reason i’m not going to do it.” like
  • 11:15 | don’t you think that’s stupid that’s
  • 11:16 | like the worst reason ever to not do a
  • 11:19 | business if everyone’s doing it it’s
  • 11:22 | because it’s profitable and it’s because
  • 11:23 | it works if it didn’t work if it wasn’t
  • 11:25 | profitable no one would be doing it so
  • 11:27 | your question is not whether other
  • 11:29 | people are doing it or not what you
  • 11:31 | should be asking yourself is how can i
  • 11:33 | stand out from the competition what new
  • 11:36 | angles can i bring how can i be better
  • 11:38 | so if no one’s doing it it’s because it
  • 11:40 | doesn’t work instead of trying to avoid
  • 11:42 | competition just be better you want to
  • 11:44 | study the competitors and the demand and
  • 11:46 | ask yourself how you can stand out there
  • 11:49 | are so many examples of businesses that
  • 11:51 | came into a market that other people are
  • 11:54 | doing and they gained their own market
  • 11:56 | share and made a lot of money as an
  • 11:57 | example netflix didn’t say “oh
  • 12:00 | blockbuster is already renting out
  • 12:01 | movies so i’m not going to do this.”
  • 12:03 | right that’s what most people are saying
  • 12:04 | you know this niche is too saturated
  • 12:06 | other people are doing it instead
  • 12:07 | netflix saw what blockbuster is doing
  • 12:10 | and they’re like i think i can do better
  • 12:12 | in this movie rental niche so they came
  • 12:14 | in and now they transition into
  • 12:16 | streaming services but this is a good
  • 12:18 | example of going into a market where
  • 12:20 | there’s already competitors blockbuster
  • 12:22 | you know the red box thing that you can
  • 12:24 | rent movies from right there are other
  • 12:25 | services out there but netflix just did
  • 12:27 | a better job and it won and after
  • 12:29 | netflix came out now you see hulu amazon
  • 12:32 | plus disney everyone’s coming up with a
  • 12:34 | streaming service all these other guys
  • 12:36 | didn’t say “oh netflix is already doing
  • 12:37 | it we’re not going to do it.” they just
  • 12:39 | came in saying “how can we be
  • 12:40 | different?” right disney has obviously
  • 12:42 | the disney angle you know amazon prime
  • 12:45 | has the amazon angle so everybody has
  • 12:47 | their angle and everyone’s making money
  • 12:49 | so you just have to come up with your
  • 12:51 | own angle so in terms of amazon examples
  • 12:53 | uh this is a good example so this book
  • 12:56 | blew up it was like the number one
  • 12:57 | bestselling book in the entire bookstore
  • 12:59 | i think two years ago made a crap ton of
  • 13:01 | money even right now it still makes
  • 13:03 | hundreds of dollars a day so the way
  • 13:04 | this book did well is because it’s not
  • 13:06 | like you know interesting facts book is
  • 13:09 | a brand new concept a lot of people were
  • 13:11 | doing it but no one had this book cover
  • 13:13 | design where einstein’s brain exploding
  • 13:16 | this was the first one and for that
  • 13:17 | reason it was like a really high impact
  • 13:19 | book cover and it sold really well so
  • 13:21 | this is one example of standing out and
  • 13:22 | that is simply to have nicer packaging
  • 13:25 | in our case book covers having a book
  • 13:27 | cover does that stand out even though
  • 13:29 | the product is the same another example
  • 13:30 | is this book the shadow work journal
  • 13:32 | this book literally made millions of
  • 13:34 | dollars like it’s insane how one book
  • 13:36 | made millions but this book blew up on
  • 13:38 | tik tok so the shadow work journal is
  • 13:41 | not a new concept right a lot of other
  • 13:42 | books are also doing it this book has a
  • 13:44 | pretty nice book cover right now and it
  • 13:46 | has a lot of reviews but it blew up
  • 13:47 | because the publisher or the author uh
  • 13:50 | knew tik tok marketing which was a new
  • 13:52 | thing back in the day right as you can
  • 13:53 | see it’s a smash hit on tik tok a lot of
  • 13:55 | people started talking about this so the
  • 13:57 | point is you can have the same product
  • 13:59 | right but you can be better at marketing
  • 14:01 | and that can be your angle which in this
  • 14:03 | case it was so the first two examples
  • 14:05 | showed that you can have the same
  • 14:07 | product as everyone else but you can
  • 14:08 | stand out by either having different
  • 14:10 | packaging or marketing well this is an
  • 14:13 | example of actually having a different
  • 14:15 | product right a unique product and in
  • 14:17 | this case it is a reverse coloring book
  • 14:19 | so a lot of people are doing coloring
  • 14:20 | books you can go the complete opposite
  • 14:22 | way calling it a reverse coloring book
  • 14:24 | right it’s new so this is a pretty
  • 14:25 | simple one the product is just unique
  • 14:27 | you know so you can obviously go with
  • 14:29 | this angle too so there are many ways to
  • 14:31 | stand out but the point is competition
  • 14:33 | is a good thing just figure out what is
  • 14:35 | your angle what new thing do you bring
  • 14:37 | to the table the next big lesson is that
  • 14:39 | you have to be okay with investing in
  • 14:41 | your business so recently i did a poll
  • 14:44 | uh on my youtube channel asking people
  • 14:46 | how much money do they want to make from
  • 14:47 | their amazon kdp business and this was
  • 14:50 | the answer that i got okay so 50% or
  • 14:52 | more said they want to make six figures
  • 14:54 | a year over 16% of people said they want
  • 14:58 | to make seven figures a year right and
  • 15:01 | 9% of people said they want to make fu
  • 15:04 | money meaning it’s like more than seven
  • 15:06 | figures so if you add all this up more
  • 15:08 | than
  • 15:10 | 75% of people out of all the people that
  • 15:13 | answered the survey said they want to
  • 15:15 | make six figures a year now six figures
  • 15:17 | a year is a top 1% income universally
  • 15:20 | right even in the us it’s top 1% or
  • 15:22 | something i think and what’s crazy is
  • 15:24 | that even though 75% of people said they
  • 15:27 | want to make six figures a year the same
  • 15:28 | people absolutely freak out when i say
  • 15:31 | you have to invest let’s say 70 bucks on
  • 15:33 | this tool that’s going to help you do
  • 15:35 | keyword research or that you should hire
  • 15:36 | ghost writers to speed up the process
  • 15:38 | and have a professional writer write the
  • 15:40 | book for you right or you can invest 30
  • 15:43 | 50 bucks on a book cover so that you
  • 15:44 | have an attractive book cover whatever
  • 15:46 | whenever i mention that you should
  • 15:48 | invest some money into the business they
  • 15:50 | freak out or sometimes it’s not even
  • 15:51 | about the money right when i say you
  • 15:53 | have to you know work on this business
  • 15:55 | every day consistently for you know
  • 15:57 | multiple months to see results they
  • 15:59 | absolutely freak out because they want
  • 16:00 | to see results within the first 30 days
  • 16:03 | doing you know one hour a week or
  • 16:04 | something isn’t that crazy like 75% of
  • 16:07 | the people want a top 1% income and yet
  • 16:11 | very very few people are actually
  • 16:12 | willing to sacrifice and work like the
  • 16:15 | 1% you have to understand that if you
  • 16:17 | want something in life you have to give
  • 16:19 | something of equal value like you cannot
  • 16:22 | get something for nothing if you want to
  • 16:23 | buy something you have to pay money for
  • 16:26 | it right if you want a good relationship
  • 16:28 | you got to work on it if you want to
  • 16:30 | lose weight you have to put in the
  • 16:32 | effort of you know going to the gym or
  • 16:34 | eating less or something basically if
  • 16:36 | you want something you got to give
  • 16:37 | something it’s an equal trait so it just
  • 16:39 | absolutely blows my mind how many people
  • 16:41 | want a six figure or even seven figure
  • 16:43 | salary without wanting to do anything in
  • 16:46 | return anyways the good news with kdp is
  • 16:48 | that you don’t always have to invest
  • 16:50 | money right if you don’t have the money
  • 16:52 | you can invest the time every single
  • 16:54 | step in the kdp business process you can
  • 16:57 | do it yourself but if you don’t have the
  • 17:00 | time let’s say you are a busy individual
  • 17:02 | you know you have a full-time job but
  • 17:03 | you got some money to invest well you
  • 17:05 | can also outsource every single step of
  • 17:07 | the process in kdp so if you don’t have
  • 17:09 | the time you can invest the money you
  • 17:11 | can choose right whether you want to pay
  • 17:13 | with time or pay with money but if
  • 17:15 | you’re not willing to pay with time or
  • 17:17 | money then you should not be building
  • 17:18 | this business you should not be building
  • 17:20 | any business because you’re not willing
  • 17:21 | to sacrifice anything so honestly at
  • 17:23 | that point you don’t deserve to be
  • 17:25 | successful because you’re not willing to
  • 17:27 | make the sacrifice and i think you
  • 17:29 | should probably just stick to a job or
  • 17:30 | something so the next thing i wish i
  • 17:31 | knew when i started is that your book
  • 17:33 | cover is the most important thing so
  • 17:36 | most people create books like these
  • 17:38 | right very very extremely generic like
  • 17:41 | these are really really bad covers super
  • 17:44 | hard to read very unprofessional the
  • 17:46 | horrible color contrast the image
  • 17:48 | doesn’t make sense and it just screams
  • 17:49 | that you whipped this up on canva in
  • 17:51 | like five minutes compared to that these
  • 17:53 | are good book cover examples right very
  • 17:55 | professional the color pops the title
  • 17:57 | text pops the image makes sense so the
  • 17:59 | question is how do you create a book
  • 18:01 | cover like these if you’re not a
  • 18:02 | professional designer well that is
  • 18:04 | exactly why you should outsource and
  • 18:06 | that’s exactly why you should invest a
  • 18:08 | little bit of money into hiring someone
  • 18:10 | that can make these book covers for you
  • 18:11 | like as an example if you’re doing
  • 18:13 | coloring books or activity books this
  • 18:14 | gig can create a book cover for you for
  • 18:16 | 25 bucks if you’re doing more fiction or
  • 18:18 | non-fiction type of book then this one
  • 18:20 | will do it for 10 bucks and the design
  • 18:22 | looks pretty nice and obviously there
  • 18:23 | are many many other options these are
  • 18:25 | just two examples which by the way if
  • 18:26 | you want to check it out the link is
  • 18:27 | below this video but you don’t have to
  • 18:29 | use these gigs specifically right you
  • 18:31 | can use other ones just look it up on
  • 18:33 | fiverr anywhere which fiverr is a great
  • 18:35 | place to hire book cover designers and
  • 18:36 | you can obviously pay more if you want a
  • 18:38 | better quality one but if you’re just
  • 18:40 | getting started these are a great
  • 18:41 | starting point and once you start making
  • 18:43 | money from the book you can keep
  • 18:44 | reinvesting into hiring someone a little
  • 18:46 | bit more expensive but maybe better
  • 18:47 | quality so if you’re like “oh my god 25
  • 18:49 | bucks for a book cover 10 bucks for a
  • 18:51 | book cover that is too much that’s too
  • 18:53 | expensive i’m scared of investing the
  • 18:55 | money.” well let’s do some math here so
  • 18:57 | let’s just say that your book cover
  • 18:59 | costs 30 bucks okay and your book makes
  • 19:02 | $4 in royalties for every single sale so
  • 19:05 | that means if your book makes eight
  • 19:08 | additional sales in its lifetime i’m not
  • 19:11 | saying in a week not even in a month not
  • 19:14 | even in a year i’m talking about
  • 19:15 | lifetime okay if you make eight
  • 19:18 | additional sales at $4 royalties each
  • 19:21 | you make your money back you make more
  • 19:23 | than that 30 bucks that you invested so
  • 19:26 | my question is do you think you can make
  • 19:29 | eight extra sales with a much better
  • 19:31 | book cover i think so i think you’re
  • 19:33 | gonna make way more than eight sales and
  • 19:35 | that is pretty much how you want to look
  • 19:37 | at it with everything right when it
  • 19:39 | comes to book cover ghostriters because
  • 19:41 | ghostriter is going to write better
  • 19:42 | books for you which means you’re not
  • 19:43 | going to get as much negative reviews
  • 19:45 | which is going to help with your book
  • 19:47 | not dying off because of bad reviews
  • 19:49 | it’s going to keep selling it’s going to
  • 19:50 | make more money same as formatting you
  • 19:52 | know review services whatever so the
  • 19:53 | next mistake i made a lot when i first
  • 19:55 | got started was that i was consuming way
  • 19:58 | too much content what you want to do is
  • 20:00 | you want to focus on producing not
  • 20:02 | consuming so i want to be completely
  • 20:03 | real with you guys because you guys like
  • 20:05 | my no bs most people who say that “i’ve
  • 20:08 | tried kdp for one year and i didn’t get
  • 20:10 | any results.” i get comments like that
  • 20:12 | on my youtube videos of people saying
  • 20:14 | “oh i tried kdp for one year and i
  • 20:16 | didn’t see any results.” most people who
  • 20:18 | say that did not do kdp for one year
  • 20:21 | they watched kdp videos for one year and
  • 20:25 | they probably worked on the actual
  • 20:27 | business like a couple hours and they
  • 20:28 | probably just whipped up couple super
  • 20:30 | generic journals following a youtube
  • 20:32 | tutorial and then they did absolutely
  • 20:35 | nothing for the rest of the year right
  • 20:37 | and they just kept watching videos
  • 20:39 | that’s all they’ve done they didn’t do
  • 20:40 | kdp for one year they did kdp for a
  • 20:43 | couple hours and then they waited one
  • 20:44 | year watching videos so that is a
  • 20:46 | perfect example of just consuming
  • 20:49 | without producing consuming is like
  • 20:51 | watching videos you know reading posts
  • 20:53 | or whatever as a consumer you’re
  • 20:55 | learning but you’re not making any money
  • 20:56 | because learning does not make you money
  • 20:59 | you have to produce make more books
  • 21:01 | market those books right those actions
  • 21:03 | is going to lead to more money so if
  • 21:04 | you’re waiting until you feel 100% ready
  • 21:07 | to get started that day will never come
  • 21:10 | like literally never okay you will never
  • 21:12 | feel 100% ready you will always feel
  • 21:14 | like you know you’re missing something
  • 21:16 | that you don’t know something until you
  • 21:17 | actually take action successful people
  • 21:20 | learn as they go they start real quick
  • 21:22 | and then you know by taking action by
  • 21:24 | making the mistakes they learn from it
  • 21:26 | not from consuming content your first
  • 21:27 | book will probably suck and it might
  • 21:29 | flop right but that is okay like the
  • 21:32 | beauty of amazon kdp is that your book
  • 21:34 | will stay on amazon for life and even a
  • 21:37 | bad book is going to make some sales
  • 21:39 | right i cannot guarantee anything but
  • 21:40 | usually it does and over time it often
  • 21:43 | makes your money back if you’re just
  • 21:45 | patient enough like as an example with
  • 21:46 | real estate investing right people often
  • 21:48 | spend a crap ton of money buying the
  • 21:50 | property and then they fix it up even
  • 21:53 | more money and then they rent it out and
  • 21:55 | it takes them like 10 years to make
  • 21:56 | their money back and that is considered
  • 21:58 | a standard investment or a standard time
  • 22:01 | to make their money back 10 years and
  • 22:03 | people do that all the time and with kdp
  • 22:05 | i’ve literally never heard of a book not
  • 22:07 | making your money back after like max
  • 22:09 | one two years like that’s an example of
  • 22:11 | if your book really really really suck i
  • 22:14 | publish a lot of books and usually they
  • 22:15 | make my money back after a couple months
  • 22:17 | even the slowest one maybe a year but
  • 22:19 | that is fine because even if one book
  • 22:21 | doesn’t do well the other ones do well
  • 22:23 | to make up for it so you got to stop
  • 22:24 | being scared you got to stop just
  • 22:27 | consuming and you have to start taking
  • 22:29 | action so the final and the biggest
  • 22:30 | thing i wish i knew when i first got
  • 22:33 | started is that the highest roi comes
  • 22:35 | from investing in yourself so when i
  • 22:37 | first started kdp i was 21 years old i
  • 22:40 | was broke and i’ve been failing in
  • 22:42 | multiple different business models for
  • 22:44 | four years straight in four years i made
  • 22:46 | a hundred bucks while spending thousands
  • 22:49 | of dollars in different business models
  • 22:51 | right so i was scared of investing my
  • 22:53 | money at this point because i just
  • 22:54 | thought it’s not possible for me to
  • 22:56 | succeed i thought i was a failure to be
  • 22:58 | honest like everything i try i thought i
  • 23:00 | was going to fail because i was so
  • 23:01 | conditioned from failing in the past so
  • 23:04 | i was scared to invest more money when i
  • 23:06 | started now i watched tons of tutorials
  • 23:09 | on youtube to try and do this for free
  • 23:11 | but i never found a video that fully
  • 23:13 | explained things like i never felt like
  • 23:15 | i had the full picture like you might be
  • 23:17 | feeling the same thing like i mentioned
  • 23:19 | earlier right and i wasted so much time
  • 23:22 | just consuming these content without
  • 23:24 | ever taking action and in the end i
  • 23:26 | finally got the courage to invest in a
  • 23:28 | course and also a coach a one-on-one
  • 23:30 | coach right and this saved me so much
  • 23:32 | time ended up making a ton of money and
  • 23:35 | saved me from making the mistakes so
  • 23:37 | free content is great i watch a lot of
  • 23:38 | youtube videos i learn a lot from them
  • 23:40 | but whenever i want to go deep in
  • 23:42 | something i always buy a course because
  • 23:44 | i know that the time i’m going to spend
  • 23:46 | is worth way more than the potential
  • 23:49 | amount that costs to join the course or
  • 23:51 | program or whatever so whenever i try to
  • 23:52 | learn something i always try to get
  • 23:54 | coaching and mentorship so back in 2016
  • 23:56 | when i started i finally mustered up the
  • 23:59 | courage to spend $6,000 uh for 10
  • 24:02 | one-on-one sessions with my coach so
  • 24:05 | literally $600 per session right because
  • 24:07 | it’s 6k for 10 sessions and this is back
  • 24:10 | in 2016 isn’t that crazy like the
  • 24:12 | coaching program that i offer right now
  • 24:14 | has way better value and it’s like 9
  • 24:17 | years later you know because of
  • 24:18 | inflation and everything things are more
  • 24:20 | expensive and yet our coaching program
  • 24:22 | offers way more for less price anyways
  • 24:25 | after getting the coaching you know i
  • 24:26 | hit $1,000 in a month very quick and
  • 24:29 | then i hit $10,000 in a month after 10
  • 24:31 | months because having a coach check my
  • 24:34 | keyword check my book cover check my
  • 24:35 | title just get that confirmation that i
  • 24:38 | am moving forward in the right direction
  • 24:40 | was huge right because i wasn’t in the
  • 24:42 | blind anymore and that’s exactly what we
  • 24:44 | do with our coaching program too we
  • 24:46 | check your stuff we actually have
  • 24:47 | one-on-one coaching sessions included so
  • 24:49 | it’s not just a course is a course
  • 24:51 | coaching hybrid offer that we have which
  • 24:53 | if you guys want to learn more about it
  • 24:54 | it’s the first link in the description
  • 24:56 | if you click on it it takes you a page
  • 24:58 | like this you can watch the video you
  • 24:59 | can scroll down and see the testimonials
  • 25:01 | what’s included and stuff like that but
  • 25:03 | you have to apply here for a free
  • 25:06 | discovery call and on the call which is
  • 25:08 | free once again it’s like 30 minutes
  • 25:09 | okay on the call you can ask us any
  • 25:11 | questions but we’ll also ask you
  • 25:13 | questions to make sure that this program
  • 25:14 | is a fit for you if it is you can join
  • 25:17 | sometimes it’s not and we’ll let you
  • 25:18 | know that it’s not a good fit but if
  • 25:20 | you’re interested in joining and you
  • 25:21 | want to talk to us then this is how you
  • 25:22 | do it this student says he was making
  • 25:24 | 200 bucks a month on kdp before joining
  • 25:27 | and now he’s consistently doing over 10k
  • 25:29 | per month and scaling fast but once
  • 25:31 | again you don’t have to join if you
  • 25:33 | don’t want to in fact if you’re going to
  • 25:34 | come in and you’re rude or you’re
  • 25:36 | entitled you know you have a bad
  • 25:38 | attitude then i don’t want you to join
  • 25:39 | if you think i’m a scammer just because
  • 25:41 | i make youtube videos or i sell a
  • 25:42 | coaching program then please do not join
  • 25:45 | because i don’t want to work with you
  • 25:46 | because we don’t just dump a video
  • 25:48 | course and then disappear right we
  • 25:49 | actually sit down with you oneon one we
  • 25:51 | got a lot of handholding which means we
  • 25:53 | got to spend quite a bit of time to
  • 25:54 | actually work with you so if your
  • 25:56 | personality kind of suck obviously we
  • 25:57 | don’t want to do that but the point is
  • 25:58 | having some sort of structured plan to
  • 26:01 | follow whether that is our program or
  • 26:03 | someone else’s i think it is highly
  • 26:05 | beneficial so if you don’t want to join
  • 26:07 | ours you can join someone else’s program
  • 26:08 | but i do recommend having a concrete
  • 26:10 | plan very very rarely do people figure
  • 26:13 | everything out on their own just by
  • 26:14 | watching videos like i remember one time
  • 26:16 | i asked in one of my videos if you made
  • 26:19 | over $10,000 per month without following
  • 26:21 | any course comment below right and that
  • 26:25 | video got a lot of views and i received
  • 26:27 | zero comment of someone who actually
  • 26:29 | made 10k per month trying to do
  • 26:31 | everything themselves so if you’re
  • 26:32 | watching this and if you are someone who
  • 26:35 | actually figured out everything yourself
  • 26:37 | and you’re hitting 10k per month or more
  • 26:39 | then yeah let me know in the comments
  • 26:40 | and you can prove me wrong if you do
  • 26:42 | like these longer form no bs video and
  • 26:44 | if you want me to make more of it then
  • 26:46 | the best way to let me know is to like
  • 26:47 | the video subscribe if you haven’t yet
  • 26:49 | and also comment and just straight up
  • 26:51 | let me know so just comment no bs if you
  • 26:53 | like these and if you want me to do more
  • 26:55 | and i will try to do more with that
  • 26:57 | being said thank you so much for
  • 26:58 | watching and i’ll see you guys in the
  • 27:00 | next one
