Tired of chasing algorithms, burning out on social media, or feeling like passive income is just a dream? You’re not alone—and …
- 0:00 | Julie,
- 0:02 | how are you? H
- 0:03 | I’m good. I’m inside. It’s hot here in
- 0:05 | Kansas, so stay cool.
- 0:07 | It’s hot here in Idaho, too. Walk out
- 0:10 | the door, suck your breath out of you
- 0:12 | hot. It nasty.
- 0:14 | Walk outside and melt.
- 0:16 | I know. That’s why I love what we do,
- 0:19 | though. We get to work indoors.
- 0:21 | Yep.
- 0:22 | When it’s cool under a ceiling fan.
- 0:26 | so
- 0:29 | talk with you for our viewers because
- 0:35 | people that I know are like people that
- 0:38 | were all age ranges
- 0:41 | and I know in today’s economy there’s a
- 0:44 | lot of mamas out there who are single
- 0:49 | trying to make a go raising a family
- 0:52 | working a job and so burned out and it
- 0:56 | when I I was talking to this one lady.
- 0:58 | It reminded me of you because that’s how
- 1:01 | you found affiliate marketing.
- 1:04 | Yes, exactly.
- 1:05 | So, why don’t you tell us the
- 1:07 | abbreviated version of how you got to
- 1:10 | where you are today?
- 1:12 | I one season of my life was a single mom
- 1:16 | raising three kids working the 9-to-f5
- 1:19 | and I really remember being at work one
- 1:21 | day not didn’t have enough PT hour PTO
- 1:25 | hours built up and I had to miss one of
- 1:29 | my kids ball games and my kids are all
- 1:31 | very athletically inclined we’ve been in
- 1:33 | sports since literally they born when
- 1:35 | active in sports and I remember that day
- 1:40 | just feeling such mom guilt about being
- 1:43 | able to be in the stands when they were
- 1:47 | playing their games. It’s not the same
- 1:49 | watching the replay on a video. It’s
- 1:51 | just not there.
- 1:53 | So, I really started looking for
- 1:55 | something to start out with that I could
- 1:57 | do from home. And that started with a
- 2:00 | working for a gal from home doing a
- 2:03 | t-shirt design and building websites.
- 2:06 | And that’s how it really started. And I
- 2:07 | ended up buying the business from her. I
- 2:10 | loved it. was a great season. I still do
- 2:14 | some design, but now I’ve switched over
- 2:16 | to more print on demand rather than
- 2:18 | doing it in house. So, I don’t have to
- 2:20 | have the inventory.
- 2:22 | Along that journey, you get to a point
- 2:24 | where you just it just doesn’t fill you
- 2:26 | up like it used to. And so I really
- 2:29 | started looking at affiliate marketing
- 2:31 | and I started following all the social
- 2:35 | media influencers
- 2:37 | who told me that you need to be posting
- 2:40 | three meals a day and you need to be
- 2:42 | engaged 15 minutes before and you need
- 2:45 | to post and engage 15 minutes after. you
- 2:47 | need to build your audience and just I
- 2:50 | thought I can do this and I did it for
- 2:52 | about a week and realized real quickly
- 2:55 | that was not sustainable. I just
- 2:58 | couldn’t do it. And that’s really when I
- 3:02 | came across Pinterest and affiliate
- 3:06 | marketing and really how well the two
- 3:10 | mesh together because a lot of people
- 3:12 | don’t know that Pinterest is not social
- 3:14 | media. It’s a search engine. So you can
- 3:18 | create leads, make sales with zero
- 3:22 | followers.
- 3:25 | But one of the things I get a lot as I’m
- 3:28 | digging deeper into this journey is I
- 3:31 | love to help beginners
- 3:34 | learn this. And when I start talking
- 3:37 | affiliate marketing, because I mean I am
- 3:38 | passionate about this, I immediately get
- 3:41 | the deer in the headlight look. They’re
- 3:43 | like, “Oh, I’m not sure I can do that.
- 3:46 | The wheels are spinning. I don’t know
- 3:48 | start.” And that’s how I got to where I
- 3:52 | am with a marketing.
- 3:55 | Oh my gosh. So,
- 3:59 | you said
- 4:01 | um that you use Pinterest and it’s not
- 4:04 | social media.
- 4:06 | Nope.
- 4:07 | So, then how
- 4:13 | How do you use affiliate marketing with
- 4:16 | Pinterest to get leads and to make sales
- 4:19 | if it’s not social media?
- 4:21 | Perfect. I love the question. I’m sure
- 4:24 | you’ve noticed. I know a lot of people
- 4:26 | that don’t are into online marketing
- 4:28 | wouldn’t understand this, but say
- 4:31 | Facebook for example, if you pin if you
- 4:36 | put a link in your copy in words on the
- 4:39 | page, they don’t like that. They will
- 4:41 | suppress
- 4:43 | your outreach
- 4:45 | if you a link in the description,
- 4:49 | right? you’re already fighting settle
- 4:51 | because your contents only last about 24
- 4:54 | hours if you’re lucky and then they put
- 4:56 | their thumb on you and squash you and
- 4:58 | then because you posted a link. So you
- 5:01 | really feel like you’re a constant
- 5:04 | uphill battle. What I love about
- 5:07 | Pinterest being a search engine, it is
- 5:10 | all based on keywords and search engine
- 5:14 | optimization. So when people come to
- 5:16 | Pinterest, they’re searching for a
- 5:19 | specific problem, but within what
- 5:21 | they’re searching for are keywords such
- 5:23 | as stay at moms, stay at home moms, just
- 5:27 | for stay-at-home moms. You can create
- 5:30 | content around that.
- 5:33 | And what I love about Pinterest is every
- 5:36 | pen requires a link to send them
- 5:38 | somewhere else. And they don’t squash
- 5:41 | you for it.
- 5:43 | and your content lasts on a minimum of
- 5:45 | four months.
- 5:47 | So, as a beginner
- 5:50 | who doesn’t feel like they’re constantly
- 5:51 | just hitting that brick wall and having
- 5:53 | their content disappear right before
- 5:55 | their eyes, they can go to Pinterest and
- 5:58 | they can actually watch their analytics
- 5:59 | and they can watch their numbers
- 6:00 | increase and it’s very rewarding.
- 6:03 | So, that that brings up two more
- 6:06 | questions for me.
- 6:07 | Okay. So, you talk about SEO and search
- 6:11 | engine optimization. That makes me a
- 6:14 | little tweaky. It’s a little techy.
- 6:17 | Yep.
- 6:18 | So, how do you learn that?
- 6:22 | You can go to Google. You can go to
- 6:24 | Pinterest. I tell people go to Google
- 6:27 | and just search something. And I will
- 6:30 | start searching like
- 6:32 | passive income. Take just this very
- 6:35 | simple word, passive income, and type it
- 6:36 | into the search bar. It’s going to drop
- 6:39 | down and show you the exact word that
- 6:42 | people are searching for.
- 6:44 | Those are your keywords.
- 6:47 | Ahu.
- 6:48 | Yeah. You can do the same thing on
- 6:50 | Pinterest. You can go to Pinterest and
- 6:52 | say somebody’s searching for jobs for
- 6:54 | stay-at-home moms, how to plant a
- 6:56 | perennial garden. And you see you put in
- 6:59 | your base word and then it’ll drop down
- 7:01 | and it will show you what how what
- 7:03 | people are searching for and you use and
- 7:05 | target those keywords in your title
- 7:08 | descriptions bio and when somebody goes
- 7:12 | and searches for that then you pop up on
- 7:16 | their feed. It’s not like they have to
- 7:17 | scroll through Tik Tok watching five
- 7:19 | million videos to figure out what
- 7:22 | resonates with you.
- 7:23 | Now I forgot the second question but
- 7:26 | that is exciting. That’s exciting
- 7:28 | because
- 7:30 | in my head, even though I’ve been online
- 7:33 | for a long time, I can still get my mind
- 7:38 | boggled.
- 7:40 | I overthink things. And that’s I’m going
- 7:44 | to remember that because that’s the
- 7:46 | perfect way. Just type in the basic
- 7:50 | word.
- 7:51 | Yep.
- 7:53 | Oh my gosh, that’s so good, Julie. So
- 7:56 | then, okay, so that makes me want to use
- 7:59 | Pinterest. Now,
- 8:02 | if I don’t already have
- 8:06 | a business, use Pinterest for
- 8:12 | I see all this stuff there that I swear
- 8:16 | there’s a million
- 8:18 | affiliate offers out there. Number one,
- 8:23 | and I’m going to say both questions so I
- 8:25 | don’t forget them. Number one, what is
- 8:28 | affiliate marketing? And number two, how
- 8:32 | the heck do you choose one?
- 8:35 | So affiliate marketing is nothing more
- 8:37 | than finding a product or service that
- 8:40 | you already use. Say it’s something, say
- 8:42 | it’s a face cream that you’re
- 8:44 | recommending to your best friend. You’re
- 8:46 | taking that product and you’re going to
- 8:49 | go to that you’re going to go to that
- 8:51 | business and see if they offer affiliate
- 8:52 | program. You literally fill out an
- 8:55 | application. May take you two to three
- 8:57 | minutes. They’re going to give you a
- 8:58 | link with a unique code on it that
- 9:01 | tracks to you. So when you’re talking to
- 9:03 | your friends, family, you’re putting it
- 9:05 | on Pinterest, social media, wherever,
- 9:08 | and you use that link and somebody
- 9:10 | clicks on it and buys, you earn a
- 9:13 | commission. There’s no inventory.
- 9:16 | There’s no overhead. You’re basically
- 9:18 | selling somebody else’s product.
- 9:21 | Oh, that’s awesome. Because I know an
- 9:23 | awful lot of network marketers who have
- 9:26 | a garage full of product
- 9:29 | and they can’t even use it fast enough,
- 9:32 | let alone sell it.
- 9:33 | Yeah.
- 9:34 | Okay, cool. So, that’s awesome. So then
- 9:38 | how do you choose?
- 9:43 | Let me back up. So in network marketing,
- 9:48 | you’ve got a plethora of product to
- 9:51 | offer and the company decides
- 9:54 | how much percentage
- 9:56 | you get paid on each product or the
- 10:00 | volume or whatever. So with affiliate
- 10:03 | marketing,
- 10:06 | how do you choose a product that you
- 10:09 | like? Perhaps you use it and love it,
- 10:16 | but how do you know if you can make
- 10:17 | money with it?
- 10:19 | The nice thing is really the only thing
- 10:21 | you’re out on is your time in promoting
- 10:24 | it. So you don’t have any invested cost
- 10:27 | productwise.
- 10:28 | So, what I would tell you to do is go
- 10:30 | look at these products that you’re using
- 10:32 | that you’re loving that you’re already
- 10:34 | sharing. Go the websites and see what
- 10:37 | percentage of commissions you know they
- 10:40 | will give you on each sale. One other
- 10:43 | thing I absolutely love is because with
- 10:45 | digital products, your commissions
- 10:48 | pretty much range anywhere from 70% to
- 10:52 | 100% profit on those items. That’s what
- 10:56 | I love about digital products versus
- 10:58 | physical products. But physical
- 11:00 | products, say I used to have, like I
- 11:03 | said, the t-shirt business. It’s just
- 11:06 | that you’re commissioning a little bit
- 11:07 | less on physical products because the
- 11:09 | company has money invested into the
- 11:13 | actual product and product creation.
- 11:16 | Yeah,
- 11:17 | that makes sense. So,
- 11:20 | is it feasible or wise for a beginner
- 11:26 | keeping the beginner in mind to have
- 11:28 | more than one company that they’re an
- 11:32 | affiliate of?
- 11:34 | I would say start out with one and get
- 11:37 | your feet wet. Really just figure out
- 11:39 | how it works and learn how things eb and
- 11:42 | flow. Learn how to market things because
- 11:45 | it can be overwhelming. You and I think
- 11:47 | had a conversation earlier about see all
- 11:49 | these things about I can this and I can
- 11:52 | sell this and I can sell this and you
- 11:53 | have that shiny object syndrome or
- 11:57 | whatever and you see all that you can do
- 11:59 | and that can make it drastically
- 12:00 | overwhelming. So I would look at several
- 12:04 | things that you could offer. Go look at
- 12:06 | their affiliate program. See which one
- 12:09 | fit the world style the best. The
- 12:11 | commissions are where you like. And I
- 12:15 | would start with one to get laser
- 12:18 | focused until you got that platform and
- 12:21 | that system down and then that’s when
- 12:22 | you can start to branch out and bringing
- 12:24 | and bring more things in.
- 12:27 | That makes sense. That makes sense. So,
- 12:30 | you had mentioned when we were preparing
- 12:33 | for this that you had a gift for our
- 12:36 | viewers
- 12:38 | and if memory serves me,
- 12:43 | it’s a gift that kind of ties in with
- 12:46 | what we were just talking about.
- 12:48 | Absolutely.
- 12:49 | Can you tell,
- 12:52 | excuse me, can you tell our viewers a
- 12:54 | little bit about that?
- 12:55 | Yes. What I’m offering is my top five
- 12:59 | affiliate marketing programs that I
- 13:01 | personally rely on very heavily in my
- 13:04 | business. That doesn’t mean you need to
- 13:05 | take all five of them and run with them,
- 13:08 | but these programs are like my top three
- 13:13 | on the list are very high what I would
- 13:17 | consider high commission. Anywhere from
- 13:19 | you’re going to make 70 to 100%
- 13:21 | commission on sales. that I love as a
- 13:25 | beginner because you can get very
- 13:29 | stuck in the mud. Like you can become an
- 13:32 | Amazon affiliate and I love Amazon. I
- 13:35 | order Amazon all the time. As an Amazon
- 13:37 | affiliate, your commissions are pennies
- 13:40 | on a dollar.
- 13:42 | Whereas digital products, your
- 13:45 | commissions are can be up to 100%. So
- 13:49 | it’s very rewarding.
- 13:52 | Sell a product. I sold a product, I
- 13:54 | don’t know, last week and I had an
- 13:55 | immediate $100 commission.
- 13:57 | Um, because it’s a digital product and
- 14:00 | those commissions obviously they’re
- 14:01 | digital. They create once and they can
- 14:03 | just resell it.
- 14:04 | There’s no cost in creating that product
- 14:07 | over and over, which is why the
- 14:08 | commission is so much higher.
- 14:11 | There’s So I And there’s also a in there
- 14:14 | that I love especially for moms because
- 14:17 | we are so busy running the kids.
- 14:20 | Summertime is crazy. There’s platform in
- 14:24 | there that will help you save on you can
- 14:27 | refer it and make money on refing it,
- 14:29 | but then you also get cash back and on
- 14:32 | fuel purchases. I put gosh when my kids
- 14:36 | were in junior high like 238,000 miles
- 14:39 | on my old mina van. I run that thing
- 14:42 | into the ground. It was terrible. I wish
- 14:45 | I would have known about this back then.
- 14:49 | Um, there’s also a program in there you
- 14:51 | can refer to somebody and you give it it
- 14:53 | gifts $30 and they get $30 and then they
- 14:57 | also make money like it’s perfect for
- 14:59 | school shipping. Then you’re going to
- 15:01 | get a percentage off of it’s kind of
- 15:04 | like a sale. You’re going to get a
- 15:06 | discount on what you purchase and
- 15:07 | they’re going to they’re really
- 15:08 | literally going to dump that money right
- 15:09 | back into your account whether it’s
- 15:11 | PayPal or wherever. So, those are the
- 15:13 | top one. I Yeah, my top five that I
- 15:16 | really rely on
- 15:18 | in my affiliate marketing. I have lots
- 15:20 | of other options there, but I put my my
- 15:22 | most heavily used five in this PDF for
- 15:26 | everybody.
- 15:27 | So, we’ll wrap this up here. I value
- 15:31 | your time and I know our viewers,
- 15:35 | they’re short on time just like
- 15:36 | everybody else, but
- 15:38 | yeah. The most important thing is what
- 15:41 | how do they get in touch with you,
- 15:43 | connect with you, and get this gift from
- 15:46 | I tell you, you can you can email me,
- 15:49 | you can Facebook message me, and we’re
- 15:50 | actually going to drop the link here on
- 15:52 | this video as well. So, you just click
- 15:54 | on it and just opt into it, and then it
- 15:57 | will be delivered via email. It’s really
- 15:59 | Awesome. Awesome. Yeah. So any parting
- 16:04 | words of wisdom to the beginner out
- 16:07 | there who’s I don’t know all of this
- 16:10 | sounds
- 16:12 | I don’t know
- 16:14 | scary I would tell you
- 16:17 | do it messy motherhood is far from
- 16:19 | perfect we’re never going to do anything
- 16:21 | right life isn’t perfectly
- 16:24 | no different in business you’re going to
- 16:27 | learn you’re going to pivot and you’re
- 16:30 | going to take what you’ve learned and
- 16:31 | use that moving forward. But it’s going
- 16:33 | to be messy. It’s going to be ugly. If
- 16:36 | you wanted to go back and watch one of
- 16:37 | my videos, you would cringe. I would
- 16:39 | literally want to go bury my head in the
- 16:41 | sand if you watched one of my very first
- 16:43 | webinars or videos that I ever did. It
- 16:44 | was awful.
- 16:48 | So, do messy. Get out of your own way,
- 16:51 | but just take that first step. Just like
- 16:53 | I said in one of my interviews the other
- 16:55 | day, you see all these high-profile
- 16:57 | entrepreneurs online that are making
- 16:59 | millions. What I tell them is they put
- 17:02 | their pants on the same way you do, one
- 17:04 | leg at a time.
- 17:06 | So, just jump in and do it.
- 17:10 | The only difference between them and the
- 17:13 | brand new person is about 500 videos.
- 17:18 | Yes, exactly.
- 17:20 | That’s it.
- 17:21 | Yeah. I when you were saying your first
- 17:24 | video
- 17:25 | years ago, I took part in a 100
- 17:30 | day
- 17:32 | 100 video
- 17:34 | challenge. We had to do one video a day.
- 17:39 | And I found that first video,
- 17:42 | I’m like, “Oh my word.” I didn’t know
- 17:46 | what to say,
- 17:48 | what to talk about.
- 17:51 | I was ominant a lot.
- 17:52 | My coach told me after first webinar,
- 17:55 | she I don’t want to hear you say the
- 17:56 | word again. I went in and edited it in
- 17:59 | one of our video editing programs and I
- 18:01 | tell you there was like 200 filler
- 18:02 | words. It was awful, Carla. It was
- 18:05 | awful.
- 18:07 | If I could go back and find that
- 18:09 | original video, run it through the
- 18:10 | editing software, I would. Or I just
- 18:12 | It’s terrible.
- 18:13 | But you know what? Look, you’re still
- 18:17 | here.
- 18:18 | I’m still alive. You’re an example to
- 18:20 | the newbie.
- 18:22 | And your business is thriving.
- 18:25 | Yep. And I love helping the newbie
- 18:27 | because I would rather have you I don’t
- 18:30 | want to see you have to struggle like I
- 18:31 | did and kick the can down the road for
- 18:33 | years trying to figure it out. I want to
- 18:35 | be able to bridge that gap to get you
- 18:36 | from point A to point B quicker.
- 18:39 | Exactly.
- 18:40 | And friends, we’re gonna say goodbye now
- 18:43 | for now. But here’s what I want to say
- 18:46 | about Julie. If you hitch your wagon to
- 18:50 | her horse, let me tell you, you can’t go
- 18:54 | wrong.
- 18:55 | A
- 18:56 | she’s got a huge heart. She means what
- 18:59 | she says, but you have to do your part.
- 19:03 | You have to get up, take the steps
- 19:07 | because she can’t do it for you. So,
- 19:10 | grab her top five affiliate programs PDF
- 19:15 | and do it. and I’ll see you on the
- 19:18 | inside.
- 19:20 | Thank you. I appreciate
- 19:22 | You’re welcome.
